Get Involved!

If you would like to get involved with Writers in Residence (WIR) as a student leader, full-time faculty or staff, or employee at a juvenile detention center, then read your appropriate section below.


Student Leader:

  1. Locate and contact your local juvenile detention center. 
  2. Create a student-run organization (WIR cohort) at your college/university.
  3. Pilot a creative writing workshop.
  4. Survey the residents.

Full-time Faculty or Staff:

  1. Locate and contact your local juvenile detention center. 
  2. Recruit and advise student leaders to create a student-run organization (WIR cohort) at your college/university.
  3. Pilot a creative writing workshop.
  4. Survey the residents.

Employee at the Juvenile Detention Center:

  1. Locate and contact your local college/university. 
  2. Collaborate with the student-run organization (WIR cohort).
  3. Pilot a creative writing workshop.
  4. Survey the residents.
